Co-op & troubleshooting

Co-op sessions run more smoothly when the group settles a few details before leaving home: which save is active, who is hosting, and what everyone should bring back. A quick check prevents a long expedition from splitting into three different plans.

An Enshrouded multiplayer guide starts with the host and world settings. Use this guide before a multiplayer session: confirm the save, agree on shared supplies, and check how death recovery works.

Co-op session checklist

  • Choose a host/world and agree whether the session is continuing an existing save or starting fresh.
  • Ask the host to confirm server/world settings and difficulty before the group invests time.
  • Set a shared base and name its storage chests; do not assume every player has the same quest state.
  • Before a boss or dungeon, agree on roles, supplies, and a retreat/recovery plan.
  • After a session, let the host save/close the world cleanly and confirm the next join point.

Death, dropped items, and getting back to your gear

Death handling can depend on world settings and the exact mode. Before an expedition, open the world/server settings and read the death penalty description rather than assuming every server behaves identically. If you die, check the map for the recovery marker, take a spare kit if you have one, and use the known route back instead of rushing into the same fight unprepared. For multiplayer groups, keep a small shared recovery chest with basic weapons, food, and tools.

Save hygiene

For a dedicated server or shared world, make periodic backups before major updates, world edits, or large build projects. Store backups outside the active save folder, label them with the date and game version, and test that the host can identify which file is the restore point. If troubleshooting requires a reset, preserve the original save before changing it. Use official support instructions for platform-specific server and save-file steps.

Platform note: menus and server controls can differ between PC and console. This guide intentionally gives the diagnostic order rather than filesystem paths that only apply to one host platform.
